I bought this Hearthware Home Products Nuwave Mini Infrared Oven - As Seen on TV
for my daughters birthday...I was so excited because I've wanted one for so long but the Pro family size.

So she was also excited she wanted to take out frozen chicken or frozen whatever and pop it into the oven and in how ever many minutes have a delicious cooked meal...she says that not only did it take longer to cook than the book says...but the chicken came out rubbery...

So I gave her a gift card and took the oven...today I cooked frozen pizza, bacon and a frozen sirloin burger. They did all take longer than the book stated. But they all came out tasting good..

I haven't tried frozen chicken breasts yet I will try that soon...what I don't like about the Mini oven is its oblong in shape...makes it impossible to cook any medium round items over 7.5 inches. You can't any use single size cake pans...so you're very limited on what size of items you can cook.

And the rack/tray sit pretty far from the heat source. I'm cooking a pork steak (not frozen) tomorrow and I'll better tomorrow if it browns and cooks the way it should...I'm thinking that I need to find a way to elevate the rack to get a good brown on top before the meat is over cooked but I'll let you know how it goes...

04/26/11 Added comments...so today I got excited about trying something frozen...so I took out a chicken thigh w/skin and rinsed off the layer of frozen water..patted it dry and put my spices on...then I popped it into the oven for 10 mins and after the 10 was up I noticed that it just wasn't browning/crisping up the way I wanted it so I didn't want to turn it over and find out it never did crisp/brown.

So I elevated the rack by placing a bowl under the rack(2.5 inches high) open side up to catch the drips...then continued to cook for 5 more minutes then turned it over for 8 more...for a total of 23 mins it could have cooked another 1 1/2 mins. But it was GREAT!! So tasty and moist...I'm lovin this oven...so in the near future I'm getting the Nuwave Pro w/extender ring.

Still cooking that pork steak for dinner...hope it turns out as well as the frozen thigh. I have not tried to cook multiple items. For my size of family it wouldn't all fit. But for 1 or 2 people it'll work...

another con this item does not offer the extender ring or the elevated rack so that you can't cook multiple items one on top of each other...it really should come with a mini extender kit so meat and veggies can cook at the sametime if you are cooking for 2-3 people...for cooking larger quanties for just 1.

Addition: same day, cooked the pork steak came out great.

I'm now dehydrating an apple..

I received the Nuwave pro and absolutely love it. I was looking at the smaller version as a gift for a friend however the product definition here says ... "Record high definition video using H.264 video encoding with digital audio. Colossus is an internal PCI Express board, full height, and runs with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP."

I am disappointed that I can't record high definition video using my Nuwave oven.

I purchased the large Nuwave pro and loved it so much I ordered the mini also. Both are fantastic! My husband laughed at me when I ordered the first one, but he was also very impressed with the way it cooked after the first meal. The mini is perfect for veggies or smaller meats. I am into cooking healthy and the amount of fat that is removed from meats is great. I think the mini will be used more than the Nuwave Pro because it is much easier to clean than the Pro is only because of the size. I was surprised at how easy the racks are to clean. No scrubbing needed, but I have found that cleaning racks on other appliances in the dishwasher damages the finish and makes them harder to clean so these won't be cleaned in the dishwasher.
The cooking times given are just a starting point. I have also found that it takes quite a bit longer to cook than the recommended times. I was aware of this from the reviews I read before I ordered them so if speed is the reason you are considering ordering one...forget it. For health benifits and quality of cooking they are great! I must say that these are my new favorite kitchen items and will be used a lot unlike many that have come and gone in the past.
